SUMMARY:Redefining Recovery: Addressing TBI as a Chronic Condition (National Academy of Sciences)
DESCRIPTION:Join a webinar ​to examine the latest science on chronic traumatic brain injury\, as well as variables that influence recovery and service gaps facing individuals and families. \nTraumatic brain injury (TBI) is increasingly recognized not as a single\, time-limited event\, but as a condition that may affect an individual’s cognition\, mental health\, physical functioning\, and daily living over months\, years\, or even a lifetime. \nThe National Academies’ Forum on Traumatic Brain Injury\, in conjunction with the Brain Injury Association of America\, will host a webinar to discuss opportunities to strengthen clinical care\, improve access to resources\, and better align health and social services with the needs of people living with chronic TBI symptoms. The webinar will highlight actionable strategies that health care professionals\, policymakers\, advocates\, caregivers\, and individuals with lived experience can take to improve outcomes and quality of life for the millions of Americans affected by brain injury.
